History
The last few years have seen an increase in popularity for this fibromelanistic hybrid. Zombie chickens are created when a fibromelanistic breed such as Ayam Cemani or Svart Hona are crossed with chickens carrying the dominant white gene.
Beauty Is More Than Skin Deep
Our Zombies are a cross between an Ayam Cemani cockbird and Cackle Hatchery's Rhode Island White. This cross results in sex linked chicks that are sexable by skin color within a few days of hatching. We prefer this particular cross over the use of a White Leghorn for the reason of temperament. The Rhode Island White crosses are friendly and curious, while also retaining outstanding laying performance.
